Bbc Blasts Into Southampton
Published 14th Jul 2008 by Sandra Robinson
BBC Blast hits Southampton with a bang on Thursday 31st July when the Blast Truck rolls into Hoglands Park, and converts into an impressive mobile e-learning studio with performance marquee. After the success of last year’s visit, Blast is back in town offering young people aged 13 – 19 years an opportunity to explore a variety of FREE workshops and showcase events and is jam packed with activities, from multi-media to music and dance.
The fun kicks off on Thursday and some of the exciting workshops on offer over the next three days include:
· Song writing with Leon Jean Marie, who recently had ‘Album of the Week’ in both the Independent and Sunday Times Culture and has just worked with Mark Ronson.
· Meeting and recording a demo with DJs from BBC 1Xtra and DJing and MCing with BBC Asian Network
· Music production with Glitch Music.
Plus: Animation, African Drumming, Making a music video, Fashion, Photography, Art, Radio, Drama, Dance and much more.
On Saturday 2nd August Blast is part of the K2 Youth Festival taking place in Hoglands Park. The event culminates at 5pm with the Blast Talent Showcase, when all the films, music, dance and radio pieces created at Blast will be performed and screened on the K2 Stage, so you can get to see the finest of Southampton’s emerging talent!
All workshops are free – to book, go to www.bbc.co.uk/blast/ontour or email: blast-southampton@bbc.co.uk
